Popular jewellery brand Tanishq is once again in trouble. This time around for an advertisement that it launched for Diwali. The Tata group brand had shared an advertisement with a message of promoting a ban on crackers. The Diwali advertisement features actors Neena Gupta, Nimrat Kaur, Sayani Gupta and Alaya F. In the ad, one of them mentions about their Diwali plans to support a ban on firecrackers.

The advertisement received severe criticism on social media. Users took to an offence at the message of the advertisement to avoid firecrackers during Diwali.
“Why should anyone advise Hindus how to celebrate Our Festivals? Companies must focus on selling their products, not lecture us to refrain from bursting Crackers,” BJP National General Secretary C T Ravi tweeted.
This is the second time in a month that the popular Tata brand has faced criticism on social media. Last time they had faced backs allegedly hurting religious sentiments.

Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri accused the advertisement of trying to “kill tradition”.
The 50-second ad has been withdrawn from Twitter and YouTube. The company did not offer any comments on the matter.
