Virat Kohli sometimes seem he is not human: Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal
Considered to be one of the finest cricketers of the modern era, Virat Kohli has come a long way from leading India U-18s to a World Cup victory in 2008 to being the senior Indian team’s captain across all formats.
His rise not just as a batsman but also a fitness freak has made him a role model and many cricketers look up to the 29-year-old as an inspiration. He is labelled as a run-machine by many in the business who has been in awe of his consistency. And Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal on Tuesday joined the list of them when he said that Kohli’s level of consistent performance often makes him feel that the Indian skipper may not be a human.
“I sometimes feel he is not human because of the way he performs, my goodness, the moment he comes out to bat, it looks like he is going to score a hundred every game,” Iqbal was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India.
“The way he looks after himself, the way he works on his game, it’s unbelievable. He is probably the number one in all three formats. He is someone to watch and admire and also learn from. I think he has been fantastic,” he added.

Kohli is ranked as the number one batsman in both the ICC Test and ODI batting rankings. He has broken many records along the way of becoming a batting great and currently is just 81 runs short of becoming the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs.
Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar is at present the fastest batsman to reach the milestone. He took 259 innings to get there, while Kohli has only played 204 ODI matches so far.
“…I have seen all the great players that have played the game in the past 12 years. They have their own strong points. But I haven’t seen anyone that has dominated as much as Virat has,” said Iqbal, reports the news agency.
The southpaw won many hearts when he decided to bat with a fractured wrist during Bangladesh’s opening Asia Cup encounter against Sri Lanka in September.

“I thought facing one delivery could have helped Bangladesh get 5-10 extra runs in that game. And we ended up getting 32 runs because of Mushfiqur’s brilliance,” said Iqbal proud of his bravery.
Kohli is at present leading India in the five-match ODI series against West Indies. He smashed a brilliant 140 to guide India to an eight-wicket victory over the Caribbean nation.
