Standalone restaurants, pubs, and bars in Karnataka that were shut on March 25 as part of a nationwide lockdown have been permitted to sell liquor at retail prices.
The situation is alarming as Mumbai with a population of 2 crore is close to exhausting ICU beds and is functioning short of optimal number of doctors.
All shops in residential areas have been allowed to reopen with conditions by the government. The relaxations are not applicable to hotspots and containment zones.
Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced that a complete lockdown would be effected in Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore Municipal Corporations.
