Taapsee Pannu — who is gearing up for her upcoming film Mission Mangal — seems to have got yet another film, which is said to be a biopic of India’s first female horse Jockey Rupa Singh. According to Pinkvilla, Taapsee Pannu will reunite with Naam Shabana director Shivam Nair for Rupa Singh biopic. Notably, there is no official word has come as of now.
Taapsee Pannu, who was last seen in Game Over, has several films lined up including Mission Mangal, Saand Ki Aankh, Thappad and many more. According to reports, apart from Rupa Singh biopic, Taapsee has earlier admitted that he is in talks for Mithali Raj’s biopic.
The versatile actress has delivered several blockbuster movies over the period of time. A source quoted as saying to Pinkvilla, “Taapsee has been approached by her Naam Shabana director Shivam Nair for one movie he’s been planning for some time. It’s based on the life of India’s first female horse jockey Rupa Singh. Shivam has got the rights to her life and is currently working on the script. He has bounced the idea off to Taapsee who has shown interest. But a bound script is yet to be locked and a narration is pending. But it’s an inspirational story about a woman in a profession that’s hugely considered a man’s world. Similarly, Taapsee has also maintained her dignity and power in a rather patriarchial set up that we have in the industry. So she completely suits the bill.”
If the news turns true, the biopic of India’s first woman jockey Rupa Singh will go on floors in later 2020. The source added, “Shivam is working on Neeraj Pandey’s next web series, and plans to begin the Uzma Ahmed biopic with Saif Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor from January-February next year. Meanwhile, Taapsee also needs to finish all the films she’s committed to. Only after that, maybe in the second half of 2020 will the Rupa Singh biopic take off.”
All we can do is just wait and watch unless the official announcement is made.
