Swamy seeks court-monitored SIT probe in Shashi Tharoor case, Supreme Court chucks it
Senior Bharatiya Janata party leader Subramanian Swamy, yet again, reached to Supreme Court with a plea seeking a court monitored SIT probe into the death of Sunanda Pushkar on Friday, which was disposed by the honorary justices. The bench was of the view that a charge-sheet has already been filed and the trial has commenced. Though Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has been granted bail, looks like Swamy want to see him behind bars.
Disposing off the petition Justice Arun Mishra and Justice S Abdul Nazir said that the ‘matter is over’, after observing that Delhi Police has already filed chargesheet in the case. Tharoor was earlier granted normal bail on last Saturday after furnishing a bond of Rs 1,00,000 before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal, who listed the matter for further hearing on July 26.

It is not the first time that Swami has appealed in the apex court for a court-monitored probe into Sunanda Pushkar’s death’s, whose body was found under mysterious circumstances at the Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi on January 17, 2014. Tharoor had been made a accused in the case by the SIT under sections 498A (husband or his relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Swamy had approached to the Delhi High Court seeking a court-monitored probe against Thiruvanathapuram MP for his alleged links in the murder of Pushkar, but the bench dismissed it by calling Swamy’s plea as a ‘political interest litigation’ on October 26, 2017.
Call it a political rivalry or Swami being a motor mouth, he had made several comments from time to time on Tharoor. recently when Tharoor was granted anticipatory bail, but barred to leave the country Swamy had mocking said, “Yes, he can’t go out of the country and see all his girlfriends in various parts of the world.” He even suggested him to ‘sit with Rahul and Sonia, as they are also Bail-walas’.

Not only this, Swamy had even called Tharoor a medical patient for his comments on ‘Hindu-Pakistan’. Speaking to ANI, Swami stated, “The Prime Minister should take pity on Mr Tharoor, find out whether he needs medical help, and send him to a mental hospital if needed.” However, no unnecessary comments were made by Tharoor.
