South superstar Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru has entered the Oscar race under multiple categories. The movie that has been directed by, Sudha Kongara Prasad, has entered the race for the Academy Awards. It is under the General Category for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score.
Producer Rajsekar Pandian took to Twitter and sharing the good news wrote, “Happy Republic Day! #SooraraiPottru joins OSCARS under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score & other categories! The film has been made available in the Academy Screening Room today (sic).”
The news was also shared by the director of 2D Entertainment, one of the film’s producers announced on Twitter. He wrote, “Happy Republic Day! #SooraraiPottru joins OSCARS under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score & other categories! The film has been made available in the Academy Screening Room today 👍🏼👍🏼.
Directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Suriya and Aparna Balamurali, Soorarai Pottru chronicles the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath and the aviation industry. After being delayed multiple times owing to the pandemic it finally released on Amazon Prime Video on November 12, 2020. The Suriya starrer garnered a huge response from critics and audience alike.
