Chennai Super Kings star player Suresh Raina has returned home from UAE. The player has cited personal reasons for his decision. He will remain unavailable for the entire IPL 2020 season. The news was shared by the franchise on Twitter. Though the exact reason for Raina’s return is not clear.
Team CEO KS Viswanathan confirming the news tweeted, “Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Suresh and his family during this time.”

Chennai Super Kings’ has been beset by problems even before the tournament has started. Recently, on Friday it was revealed that fast bowler Deepak Chahar had tested positive for Covid-19. Also, 12 members of Chennai Super Kings staff too have tested positive for COVID-19.
Raina has been an integral part of the CSK team from the very beginning. His departure will come as a massive blow to the team.
Raina had retired from international cricket earlier this month. He had announced it the same evening as MS Dhoni’s international retirement in Chennai.
The upcoming IPL season is set to begin on September 19 with Chennai Super Kings taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener.
