After almost 8 long months of theatres being shut due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra government announced that cinema halls and multiplexes will reopen from November 5, 2020, now, the makers of Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari have decided to release the film in the theatres on November 15, 2020.
The director of the film Abhishek Sharma in an interview, with the Times Now, revealed why he was not keen on releasing the film on OTT platforms, “I’ve never been okay with a digital release, my thoughts on this are well known. For me, the cinema belongs to the theatre. I’m really thankful to the production house for giving me that push for theatre, even in these times and Inshallah we’ll be the first film to come out in theatres.”
Further, he said that he feels that cinema belongs to the movie theatres and not to the OTT platforms and that it is the death of the cinema, he concluded by saying that this film is made for the theatres.
The trailer of the film was released a few days back and received appreciation from the audience. The story revolves around, Bajpayee playing the role of a wedding detective, who checks the background of grooms on the behalf of girl’s family, set in the ’90s, whereas, Diljit Dosanjh’s plays an eligible bachelor in search of a bride. Fatima Sana Shaikh plays a Marathi girl from Bombay, with a rebellious streak, whose family wants to see her settled.
Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari also includes Annu Kapoor, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, Manoj Pahwa, Neeraj Sood, Abhishek Banerjee among others.
