Sunny Deol celebrates his 65th birthday today. Currently, he is a current member of parliament from Gurdaspur (Lok Sabha constituency) of Punjab State. Referred to as the ‘Angry Man of Bollywood’, he has won two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards.

Deol made his debut opposite fellow debutante Amrita Singh in Betaab (1983), for which he received a Filmfare Best Actor Award nomination. From ‘Ghayal’ to ‘Damini’- Here’s a look at some of Sunny Deol’s movies that you must watch on his birthday.

1. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha

Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is a 2001 Indian Hindi-language romantic period action film directed by Anil Sharma and set during the Partition of India in 1947.

Loosely based on the life of Boota Singh, the film stars Deol and Amisha Patel in lead roles alongside Amrish Puri and Lillete Dubey.

Ghayal is a 1990 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Dharmendra. The film stars Sunny, Meenakshi Seshadri, Raj Babbar, and Amrish Puri, with Moushumi Chatterjee, Annu Kapoor, Om Puri, Sharat Saxena, and Sudesh Berry playing supporting roles.

It was also the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1990.

3. Damini

Damini is a 1993 crime drama film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi starring Meenakshi Seshadri in the title role alongside Deol, Rishi Kapoor, Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles, and Aamir Khan in a special appearance.

The story is about how a woman fights against society for justice. The film is considered to be one of the best women-centric films ever made in Bollywood

Border is a 1997 Indian Hindi-language epic war film directed, produced, and written by J. P. Dutta. Set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, it is an adaptation of real-life events that happened during the Battle of Longewala in 1971.

The film stars an ensemble cast of Sunny, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Jackie Shroff, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee feature in supporting roles.

5. The Hero: Love Story of a Spy

The Hero: Love Story of a Spy is a 2003 spy thriller film directed by Anil Sharma and produced by Time Magnetics. It stars Deol, Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra, Kabir Bedi, and Amrish Puri.

Written by Shaktimaan, the film tells the story of an undercover Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent who must gather intelligence about cross-border terrorism and stop the terrorist responsible for it and his separation from his fiance.
