Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) firebrand leader, Subramanian Swamy demanded that Congress leader and former Indian cricketer, Navjot Singh Sidhu should be arrested under the National Security Act (NSA).
Referring to Sidhu’s recent Pakistan visit and the viral photo posing with Pro-Khalistani separatist Gopal Singh Chawla, Swamy said that Punjab Minister must be investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Responding to Sidhu’s claim of not knowing Chawla, Rajya Sabha MP said that then you should make a statement saying that he has nothing to do with Khalistani leader, Chawla.
The war of words erupted after Chawla took to social media and posted a snap, wherein he was seen standing next to cricketer-turned-politician Sidhu. The photo is believed to be captured during the latter’s visit to Pakistan for the ground-breaking ceremony of Kartarpur corridor.

Attacking on Sidhu over the photo, Shiromani Akali Dal leader (SAD) leader Harsimrat Kaur said he is a “Pakistani agent”. She had also sought a clarification from Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi.
“He has become a Pakistani agent after going there. Rahul Gandhi should clearly state his stand on this,” said the Union minister, who also went to Pakistan to attend the Kartarpur corridor ground-breaking ceremony.
On November 29, upon his return from Pakistan, Sidhu had said, “I have been clicked at least five to 10,000 times. I do not know who is Gopal Chawla?”
During the ceremony, which witnessed the presence of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, among others, Chawla was seen shaking hands with country’s Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
