Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal asked the BJP to put an end to its “stunt and theatrics” on the sealing issue and instead bring an ordinance for maintaining status quo and relieving millions of people in the capital.
Arvind Kejriwal’s reaction came a while after contempt case against BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari was closed by the Supreme Court. Tiwari had broken the seal on a premise in Delhi in September after civic agency sealed it.
The top court of the country though reprimanded the singer-turned-BJP leader for frivolously accusing the court-mandated panel and said, it shows how “low he can stoop”.
“If BJP is done wid its stunts and theatrics, the people of Delhi urge BJP to immediately bring an ordinance now to maintain status quo, provide relief to lakhs of people and save their jobs (sic),” Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.
The Supreme Court also commented that “misplaced political propaganda has no place” and “such practices should be deprecated”.
Later Tiwari said that the top court had noted the concerns he had over the “pick and choose policy” in the sealing process in Delhi.
“The pick and choose policy of the Monitoring Committee and the illegal sealing actions which have been highlighted by us have been taken note of by the Supreme Court,” Tiwari said in a statement.
Earlier, Kejriwal had lashed out at Tiwari for breaking a sealed property’s lock, which is in his constituency. The Delhi CM also accused the BJP of running Delhi through demonetisation, Goods and Services and Tax (GST) and then sealing drive.
Kejriwal sought to ask a question in his tweet, “They themselves seal properties in the morning and break the lock in the evening. Do they think that people are stupid?”
However, the sealing drive was being carried out by a Supreme Court-mandated Monitoring Committee against business houses using residential properties for commercial purposes. It is being implemented by the three BJP-led municipal corporations in the national capital.
