Mumbai Police Charges SSR's Sister With Abetment to Suicide After Rhea's Complaint, CBI to Probe
A day after Rhea Chakraborty filed an FIR against Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister. The Mumbai police has swung into action. They have registered a case of abetment to suicide based on Rhea’s complaint against SSR’s sisters and others.
Rhea’s complaint was based on a What’s App exchange between Sushant and Priyanka. It took place six days before Sushant passed away.
A case has been filed at Bandra police station under sections pertaining to cheating, forgery, abetment to suicide. Also criminal conspiracy, and other sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Rhea Chakraborty filed a police complaint against SSR‘s sisters for allegedly getting a bogus prescription for banned medicines for Sushant’s anxiety issue. Based on the complaint the Mumbai police on September 8 has filed an FIR against Rajput’s sisters Priyanka and Meetu Singh. Also Tarun Kumar a doctor from Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Delhi.
The FIR says that the accused “hatched a conspiracy and obtained false prescription on the letterhead of a government hospital. It is for a banned medicine which is annexed under the NDPS Act. They administered the same without supervising doses which may result in a chronic anxiety attack and which resulted in the commission of suicide.”
Varun Singh, the sisters’ lawyer, told NDTV that they will approach the court seeking quashing of the First Information Report (FIR) registered.
Sushant’s family lawyer Vikas Singh alleged Rhea’s complaint with Mumbai Police is a ploy to derail the ongoing CBI investigation. He added that she aims to keep the role of state police alive in the matter.
The case has been transferred to the CBI for further investigation in accordance with the orders of the Supreme Court.
