‘Baahubali’ director, SS Rajamouli’s next film, ‘RRR’ is one of the most ambitious projects down South. The film features Ram Charan, Jr. NTR alongside Ajay Devgn in key roles. The film’s digital as well as satellite rights are said to have been now sold for a whopping amount of Rs. 200 crores (Rs 2,000,000,000).
According to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, a source close to the development informed, “RRR is expected to be one of the biggest or probably the biggest blockbuster of 2021. Hence, Star Network has offered an unbelievable Rs.200 crore for the rights. The TV arm of Star is vast and it caters to not just Hindi-speaking but also to Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam audiences. The same goes for their streaming platform, Disney+ Hotstar, which is said to have the largest subscriber base in India. Hence, the head honchos of Star decided to dole out the high price since they are confident that RRR would be worth watching and would get viewership across different languages and also online.”
Sources added that RRR won’t be directly released on the digital platform. It will be first released in the theaters and later premiered on TV and Disney + Hotstar. The source also confirms to the portal that it will only be run on digital space after it completes its silver screen run.
The film’s production was stalled due to the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown. Jr. NTR has recently resumed the shoot in Hyderabad.
