Shah Rukh Khan buys Los Angeles Knight Riders in America T20 Cricket League
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is reportedly all set to venture into American sports. The Badshah has apparently invested in American cricket. SRK has acquired Los Angeles franchise in the soon-to-be-launched Major Cricket League. It is on the lines of IPL and will be played in the US. The MCL will be having six teams. They will be based in New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
As per a Mumbai Mirror report, Shah Rukh Khan’s Indian IPL team is called Kolkata Knight Riders. His second T20 team is called-Trinbago Knight Riders – that plays in the Caribbean Premier League. He has now invested in the Los Angeles franchise and named it LA Knight Riders.
SRK, in a statement to Mumbai Mirror yesterday, confirmed his interest in the American League. “For several years now, we have been expanding the Knight Riders brand globally, and closely watching the potential for T20 cricket in the USA. We are convinced that Major League Cricket has all the pieces in place to execute on its plans and we look forward to making our partnership an enormous success in the coming years.”
The report further adds that the Major League Cricket will deliver the highest quality professional T20 cricket for the US fans. The league will feature top international players from the US and around the world. it will focus on ways to develop a homegrown player pool for USA Cricket and the league.
Reportedly Shah Rukh Khan has also obtained ‘Indian exclusivity’ in the league. This means no IPL team can be part of the American league for at least five years.
Major League Cricket will kick off from 2022 after the conclusion of IPL.
