Srinagar receives first snowfall of season, netizens share breathtaking pictures of the valley
Kashmir on Saturday received the first snowfall of the season. Residents of Srinagar woke up to the breathtaking view of pristine white snow spread all around like a blanket. Srinagar was enveloped in two to three inches of snow. But higher up in the hilly areas of the valley they snowfall between one foot to two feet.
Post the snowfall, social media was flooded with beautiful pictures of the snow-covered valley. Using hashtag #Snowfall and #Kashmir many residents shared pictures online.

Following the snowfall, the 270-km Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed. Many areas, including Marog, Magerkote and Panthiyal, also witnessed landslides.
Snowfall is likely to continue in Sonmarg, Zojila Dras and Zanskar axis and on the higher reaches of Leh,” said Director, India Meteorological Department (IMD).
