Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya has been reported for a suspect bowling action against England where his team was beaten by 211 runs in Galle, said the International Cricket Council on Sunday.
“Dananjaya’s bowling action will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is,” said the ICC in a statement.
The cricket’s governing body further added that the match officials issued a report which was handed over to the team management where concerns regarding his bowling action were expressed.
The 25-year old would undergo testing within a period of two weeks, during which he would be able to play international cricket. This, thus makes the right-arm off-break bowler eligible to compete in the second Test match which would be played in Pallekele which begins on November 14.
Dananjaya played the first Test in Galle where he claimed two wickets and conceded 184 runs in the encounter that lasted for just four days.
