Controversial BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur was schooled by angry Spice Jet passengers for reportedly delaying the flight. The Delhi-Bhopal flight was delayed by 45 minutes after the controversial MP had an argument with the passengers over her seating arrangement. As per a NEWS 18 report, Sources said that after landing in Bhopal, a peeved Thakur did not de-board from the aircraft for some time and stayed put in her seat.

Pragya Thakur had booked seat 1A but the aircraft had the front row earmarked for emergency seating. The airline claimed they were unaware of Thakur being a wheelchair passenger as she had not done the booking through the airline.
After arriving by flight SG 2489, Pragya Singh Thakur soon filed a complaint against SpiceJet for allegedly denying her the seat she had booked during a Delhi-Bhopal flight. She lodged the complaint with the director of the Raja Bhoj airport. She alleged that she was ill-treated over an issue with the seat allocated to her on the flight.
As reported by a source to News 18, Pragya Thakur said, “They did not give me the booked seat. I asked them to show me the rules. I called the director and lodged a complaint with him. I did not sit on a dharna in the flight. I just filed a complaint that the behavior of the Spice Jet crew is not proper. The seat that I was allotted was not given to me and no reason was stated.”
SpiceJet on Sunday issued a clarification after BJP MP Pragya Thakur filed a complaint against private airline. They said, “SpiceJet had the privilege to have Pragya Thakur on board SpiceJet flight SG 2498 (Delhi-Bhopal) on December 21. She had pre-booked seat 1A and had come to the airport in her own wheelchair. The Delhi-Bhopal flight is operated by Bombardier Q400 aircraft (78 seats). On this aircraft, the first row is the emergency row seat and is not allocated to passengers on the wheelchairs. As Pragya Thakur had come with her own wheelchair and had not booked through the airline, the staff wasn’t aware of the fact that she was a wheelchair passenger. She was requested by the crew to shift to 2 A/B (non-emergency row) due to safety reasons, but she refused. The duty manager and other staff also requested her to move to another seat. She asked for the safety instruction document wherein the exit door policy is mentioned and the same was shown to her to provide clarity. After persuasion from the crew and passengers, she agreed to change her seat after which the flight took off.”
The statement ended with the expression of regret over the inconvenience caused to the BJP leader. They further added that passenger safety is a major concern for SpiceJet.
