From a wannabe rock star to SpaceX first moon’s tourist; Yusaku Maezawa’s journey is a tale to tell
We still remember reading about Neil Armstrong’s successful expedition to the moon. Not only was he the first man to land on the surface of the moon, but Neil also went on to become a role model for millions around the globe. 49 years later, Japanese billionare, Yusaku Maezawa is all set to create history. The 42-year-old tycoon is confirmed as the first SpaceX moon tourist that will take place in 2023.
Labelled as the 18th richest man in Japan by Forbes, Yusaku’s claim to fame continues to be the $110.5 million Jean-Michel Basquiat masterpiece and his sensational love life that often creates headlines in tabloids. The flamboyant businessman doesn’t refrain from flaunting his luxurious life on his social media handle either.
Yusaku is the founder and CEO of a leading online fashion brand, Zozotown. Before his fashion aspirations, the businessman was an aspiring rock star who started a band called Switch Style in high school. The lead drummer for the band, Yusaku also got a record released in 1995. But unfortunately, his dreams of becoming a rock star failed to take off. In 2004, he launched his online retail website that instantly became a hit.
It’s the offshoot, Zozo that became a rage among the locals for the custom-fit clothing and at-home measurement. In an interview given to AFP last year, the tycoon revealed his passion of being an avid art collector. “I buy simply because they are beautiful. That’s all. I enjoy classics together with the history and stories behind them, but possessing classic is not the purpose of my purchase.”
Stay tuned to find out how the events unfold for the business tycoon and his expedition to the moon.
