Kim Jong Un’s Health: South Korea Reacts To Report Of The Leader Being ‘Gravely Ill’
As reported by a source to CNN, Kim Jong is in grave danger after he went through a surgery. While South Korea’s government rubbished the report
Daily NK, an online newspaper based in South Korea reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reportedly received a cardiovascular system procedure on April 12 at a hospital in North Korea’s Hyangsan county (the same hospital where his grandfather, Kim Il Sung, died in 1994). The surgery was due to excessive smoking, obesity, and overwork. The report further stated that Kim is now receiving treatment in a villa in Hyangsan County following his procedure. As reported by a source to CNN, Kim Jong is in grave danger.
While South Korea’s government rubbished the report. Kang Min-seok, a spokesman for South Korean President Moon Jae-in, said in a statement, “We have nothing to confirm regarding recent media reports about the health problems of Chairman Kim Jong Un of North Korea, and no atypical movement inside North Korea has been detected.”
Another South Korean government official said that the CNN report was ‘not true’. “Our government understands that Kim Jong Un is currently staying in a region outside Pyongyang,” he said.
Kim has been absent from many events. China’s Foreign Ministry has refused to comment on Kim’s whereabouts. The Unification Ministry said that it was “inappropriate” to speculate about the reasons for Kim’s absence. Kim has made 17 public appearances this year.
For the unversed, in 2014, Kim disappeared for nearly six weeks. South Korea’s spy agency said that he had a cyst removed from his ankle. Kim succeeded after his father’s death in December 2011 and is the third generation of his family to rule the nuclear-armed country.
