South Africa women’s cricket team captain Dane van Niekerk tied the knot with her teammate Marizanne Kapp on Sunday.
The announcement was made by Kapp on her Instagram page, where she posted a picture of themselves signing a register. It was also reported that most of their teammates attended the wedding.
Both the players made their international debuts for South Africa within two days of each other during the 2009 Women’s World Cup. While Van Niekerk was handed her first cap against West Indies on March 8, Kapp played her first match on March 10.
Their careers have also progressed in a similar path, with van Niekerk the leading wicket-taker for South Africa with 125 wickets in 95 ODIs. She was awarded the prestigious South Africa women’s cricketer of the year for the 2017-18 season.
The leg spinner with 1770 runs is also the fourth highest run-getter for South Africa in ODI’s.
