Veteran Bengali actor, Soumitra Chatterjee has been hospitalised after testing positive for the Coronavirus. The 85-year-old actor has been taken to the Kolkata’s Belle Vue hospital in the Morning today. Apparently, his condition is stable, but he has mild fever and not showing any other symptom.
According to the media reports, West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee called his team to enquire after the legendary actor’s health condition. As per a report by India Today, his daughter Poulami Bose while talking about his health condition stated that, “He is stable. He had a fever in the last few days. We wanted to admit him as a precautionary measure since he has multiple comorbidities.”
Soumitra had reportedly resumed his shootings a few days ago, as the pandemic Coronavirus lockdown eased. He is one of the legendary actors in the Bengal Film industry. He is known for collaborating scar-winner Satyajit Ray and for his own contribution in Indian cinema. He was a part of several projects helmed by Ray. ‘Ashani Sanket’, ‘Ghare Baire’, ‘Aranyer Din Ratri’, ‘Charulata’ and few among others remain some of the best works of the legend.
