Sony Norde returns to Mohun Bagan for the upcoming I-League
Haitian winger Sony Norde is all set to make his return to Kolkata club Mohun Bagan for the upcoming I-League season.
The announcement by the club on Thursday ended a year-long speculation as to whether the star play-maker, who was instrumental in Bagan’s only I-League winning campaign, would actually return to the club or not.
General secretary-elect Swapan Sadhan Bose confirmed the news, adding that the club has,”completed the signing.”He is in Miami and will apply for his employment visa today (Thursday) for which the necessary formalities are being addressed,” a statement by Bose read.

Norde thus makes his return for the Mariners after a knee injury cut short his stay at the Kolkata club last year. He had sustained the injury in Mohun Bagan’s 5-0 decimation of Churchill Brothers in the last season of the I-League. His problems with his knee further worsened when he played against Neroca FC, just nine days after he suffered from the injury and thus had to part ways with the club in a tearful farewell.
“He has agreed to undergo the required medical and physical fitness test upon his arrival in Kolkata. He will be registered with The Indian Football Association (WB) after successful completion of medical and physical fitness test,” said Bose.
With Norde’s signing, Mohun Bagan thus have roped in their sixth foreigner for the upcoming I-league season. The other foreigners in the squad are-Henry Kisekka, Dipanda Dicka, Yuta Kinowaki, Eze Kingsley and Omar Elhussieny, who was the fifth foreign signing.
