Bollywood actor, Sonu Sood has been garnering many accolades for his contribution during the COVID-19 lockdown. The actor voluntarily supported the daily wage workers, the migrant labours and helped those who were in need during the tough times. The actor with a small team has aided people and offered free food, travel facilities and other facilities to people. Now, he gets honoured with a special humanitarian action award by the UNDP. He joins the likes of Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Watson and Priyanka Chopra to have received the award by UNDP.
Sonu Sood has been officially conferred the prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Monday i.e September 28. The award was presented at a virtual ceremony.
According to the media reports, the actor while talking about getting honoured with the prestigious award stated that, “This is a rare honour. A UN recognition is very special. I have done whatever little I have done, in my own humble way, for my fellow countrymen without any expectations. However, to be recognized and awarded feels good. I fully support the UNDP in its endeavours to achieve the SDGs by 2030. Planet Earth and mankind will greatly benefit from the implementation of these goals.”
On the work fronts, Sonu Sood’s most recent Bollywood film was ‘Paltan’, a war drama which also starred Harshvardhan Rane, Jackie Shroff and few others in the key roles. The actor is yet to make the announcement of his.
