In February, Sonam Kapoor wrapped up her upcoming film, ‘Blind’ in Scotland. The ‘Neerja’ actor started shooting for the movie in December in Glasgow and completed the schedule in 39 days despite the lockdown restrictions owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. Now, reportedly, the makers of her film are planning to opt for an OTT release which marks Kapoor’s digital debut.
The crime thriller film is directed by Shome Makhija and produced by Sujoy Ghosh, Avishek Ghosh, Hyunwoo Thomas Kim, Sachin Nahar, Pinkesh Nahar, and Manish W.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, “Sujoy had thought of waiting it out for a theatrical release. He is in fact very happy with how the film has turned out. But given the third wave scare, and another shut down of theatres, he is being advised to not hold onto the movie anymore. He is now talking to three digital streaming companies and he will select the best deal.”
Further, the report states: “Blind will be Sonam’s debut on OTT. It is only a logical move to opt for the web because theirs is a small film and they will easily recover the money. Theatrical business is even more dicey at this point. So it’s a good call.”
‘Blind’ also stars Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillete Dubey in supporting roles. The film is a remake of the 2011 Korean film of the same name, centers around a blind police officer in search of a serial killer and in the film, the ‘Veere Di Wedding’ actress will play the lead role.
On the work front, Kapoor was last seen playing herself in Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘AK vs AK’, which starred her father Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap. The film was released on Netflix.
