When Sonakshi Sinha rejected Kareena Kapoor’s role in ‘Udta Punjab’
In an interview, Sonakshi Sinha made a revelation that she turned down Kareena Kapoor Khan's role in Udta Punjab.
Sonakshi Sinha is one of the Bollywood actresses who has been essaying different kinds of roles throughout her career. Sonakshi Sinha has set a benchmark in the industry with her powerful roles. Recently, the Dabangg 3 actress revealed the reason why she turned down Kareena Kapoor Khan’s role in Udta Punjab.
During an interview in 2018, Sonakshi spoke to an entertainment portal and said how she regrets passing by the role of Kareena Kapoor Khan in the black comedy crime film Udta Punjab. Further, Sinha also said that she loved the film and also called up the director Abhishek Chaubey and spoke to some members of the filming team personally and praised the movie. Lastly, she ended saying that it was probably one of the movies she would have liked to be a part of.
Udta Punjab was directed by Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor under their banner Balaji Motion Pictures, in association with Anurag Kashyap’s production house Phantom Films, the film featured of Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead.
The film created a lot of controversy in India for various reasons, primary being that discussion that the movie should be banned. The fact that the censor board demanded 89 cuts in Anurag Kashyap’s directorial created a stir in the industry. However, in 2016, the Bombay High Court gave permission for the film’s national release.
Talking about Sonakshi Sinha, she will be seen next in Bhuj: The Pride Of India. Reportedly, the movie stars Parineeti Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, and Ajay Devgn. The film is slated to release on 14 August 2020.
