Shobhaa De refuses to watch Kabir Singh; recommends “zero tolerance”
Kabir Singh has also been criticised by Vani Tripathi and Sona Mohapatra
Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh created a lot of buzz much before its release on June 21 and the hype pulled a large number of audience to the box office. Though the movie is no doubt doing well at the box office, it is also facing criticisms specially from feminist thinkers for celebrating toxic masculinity through Shahid Kapoor’s character. The latest to join the bandwagon is columnist and novelist Shobhaa De.
She took to her Twitter handle and refused to watch Kabir Singh as she feels that there is “no justification” to stalking. She also recommended “zero tolerance”.
Check her tweet below.
I refuse to watch ‘Kabir Singh’, much as I admire Shahid Kapoor. Stalking is stalking. No justification. Zero tolerance recommended.

Shobhaa De is not the first to criticise the movie. Also, CBFC member/actor Vani Tripathi and singer Sona Mohapatra have bashed the movie for glorifying the sexist and misogynist portrayal of the lead character.
Kabir Singh is about a talented surgeon Kabir Singh who takes the path of self-destruction after his break-up with his girlfriend Preeti Sikka (Kiara Advani). The movie is a Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in lead roles. Sandeep Vanga Reddy has written and directed both the movies.
Kabir Singh has received a negative response from film critics. But there is a section of the public who are loving the movie. It minted Rs 88.37 in four days.
