Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s governance and the state of Madhya Pradesh had been in turmoil since a long time. Right from the Vyapam Scam to Mandsaur Farmers’ Agitation, Madhya Pradesh was at the center of a lot of controversies.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister was also accused of being involved in the Vyapam Scam, which oversaw the death of several witnesses and whistleblowers. In an interview to NDTV, Chouhan talks about his name being cleared by the Supreme Court, CBI and how the Congress, as he claims is the reason behind accusations against the accusations against him and prepares for his record fourth time as the Chief Minister of MP in the general elections.
” Congress with their corruption, turned the state of Madhya Pradesh into a BIMARU state. There was poor governance and corruption in the state. When the BJP took reigns of MP, we brought in good roads, better transport facilities, improved the water and electric supply in the state. Is he worried about the Congress-BSP alliance? “He adds, ” Congress can continue with their politics of ‘united opposition’. They need it, and that is why are resorting to ‘yatras’.
Does the Digvijay Singh-Jyotiraditya Scindia-Kamal Nath trio worry him. ” Neither the BJP government nor me, have any ounce of fear of the Congress. When Congress was in rule, it was a part of ‘Kings and Industrialists’. They have no understanding of the ground reality and the troubles faced by the common man. I was elected by the people of Madhya Pradesh. I am someone’s ‘mama’ or bhaiyaa and for me the citizens of Madhya Pradesh are my family. I am not in the habit of treating people like subjects, which is what the Congress has been doing so far. The Congress has tried hard to malign my image in various controversies. Be it the Vyapam Scam or the Mandsaur Farmer Protests, all which have been incited by the Congress. The Congress has claim what they want to, but my name has been cleared in the Vyapam Scam by the Supreme Court and I have been given a clean chit by the CBI. ”
