Actress-entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty Kundra on Sunday alleged that she faced an unpleasant experience for being brown at the Sydney Airport over her cabin luggage.
The Khiladi actress was upset by an official who gave her a brunt reply. She said that people’s tone must not change with preference to their skin colour.
She took to Instagram to share the ordeal with a Qantas Airways lady staff member over a cabin luggage, which was deemed as ‘oversized’ at the check-in counter.
There were only a few people who supported the actress but most others trolled her for expecting celebrity privilege outside the country.
Trolls said that her case had nothing to do with racism while some said that she was expecting celebrity privilege.
ak151170 “Why should you think you get extra priviladge . This bag defenitely oversize .. Why you are carrying in cabin .. I would have gave you same response that #Mel gave to you.”
devang_jagad That’s pretty oversized.. stop drama.
priadoshi No way @theshilpashetty ! I don’t see anything related to #racismor even discrimination on the basis of color. Please stop promoting negative and wrong things on social media. That staff may be having a bad day which came out on you as merely a bad customer service. That’s it. There is no reason for you to throw a gimmick like this. I have been living in #Australia for a couple of years now and it’s really and certainly a county which has improvised a lot in these things. Don’t just assume things and make a scene out of this ! And yes your bag looks oversized! The staff member played it safe.
musafir_zindagi TBH it is an oversized bag.
swapnil_takleThats a sad thing. But this has nothing to da with racism. Lady may not have got the judgement of bag initially, its as simple.
foodzunoon Very unfortunate. You can’t be treated specially in other countries as you r a ordinary person there. U can de treated like a queen in India but it’s not possible outside India.
dushan.official Lmao what does his have to do with race or skin colour, plsssssssssssss
rekha_pillai_australia That bag looks big especially for cabin baggage on a domestic flight (Sydney-Melbourne)…and in Australia people don’t bend backwards for celebrities like in India.
eldo_zacharia Get real @theshilpashetty stop playing the race card again.
cm_saaab Yes, Qantas should be more careful to ensure the employees are using the same specifications for bag or an oversized bag (like in this special case of yours) across the counters. However, that doesn’t allow you to make them accused of being rasict to “brown poeple” as you skillfully mentioned just because you had a bad experience, I have been living in Australia for a while and regularly fly with them with the same skin color as yours and with no complains at all.Yes, Qantas should be more careful to ensure the employees are using the same specifications for bag or an oversized bag (like in this special case of yours) across the counters.
