India’s ODI and T20I opener Shikhar Dhawan is set to return to the Delhi Daredevils after he was traded by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he was a regular part of the playing XI.
Reports in ESPNCricinfo state that the southpaw would return to the Delhi Daredevils–a team where he had begun his IPL career.
Dhawan had won the IPL with Sunrisers Hyderabad under David Warner’s captaincy in 2018.
As part of the trade, Sunrisers Hyderabad would take three players from the Delhi Daredevils squad–Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma and Shahbaz Nadeem.
All-rounder Shankar and off-spinner Nadeem were bought by Delhi for 3.2 crores while Abhishek Sharma was acquired by the Daredevils for Rs 55 lakhs. A total of Rs 6.95 crore were used to buy all these three players and Sunrisers Hyderabad, in order to complete the deal, would have to make the payment through cash.
Days ago, the Royal Challengers Bangalore traded South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton De Kock to the three-time champions Mumbai Indians. The Bengaluru side also had roped in Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis in exchange of Mandeep Singh–who would return to the Kings XI Punjab next season.
