Talented actor Shafique Ansari left for his heavenly abode on May 10. The actor who rose to prominence for his role in Crime Patrol was only 52. Ansari battled thoracic cancer for two years. Some months ago, he was also diagnosed with a lung infection.
The news of his death was confirmed by Cine & TV Artistes’ Association in a tweet on Sunday. “#CINTAA expresses it’s deepest condolence on the demise of Mr. Ansari Shafique (Member since : June 2008),” the tweet read.
Speaking to Zee News, his wife Gauhar Ansari said that the actor was well throughout the day, but in the evening, his health suddenly deteriorated and he died. She added that Ansari was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment after which his condition has improved. However, he could not be saved.
Ansari also worked as an assistant director and writer. He was among the screenwriters for 2003’s Baghban, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. He has also worked in Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Shatrughan Sinha starrer Dost; Govinda, Madhuri Dixit, and Dilip Kumar starrer Izzatdaar; Mithun Chakraborty starrer Pyar Hua Chori Chori; Dharmendra, Hema Malini, and Jagdeep starrer Pratiggya; Dharmendra and Hema Malini starrer Dil Ka Heera.
