Serie A: Juventus extend unbeaten run with win over Inter Milan
Mario Mandzukic scored the only goal as Juventus continued it’s unbeaten run to make it 14 wins in 15 Serie A games this season.
The Croatian international broke the deadlock in the 66th minute helping the defending champions clinch a 1-0 win over Inter Milan in Derby d’Italia on Friday.
After recording their best start to the league and best ever start among Europe’s top five leagues, Juventus are on 43 points from 15 games — 11 ahead of the second-placed Napoli, who play Frosinone on Sunday — with the home draw against Genoa, their only winless game in Serie A.
Mandzukic headed home a Joao Cancelo cross to put Juventus ahead 11 minutes into the second half after they had survived the initial onslaught from Inter that saw Roberto Gagliardini strike the post from a promising situation.
The defeat also meant that Lucio Spalletti’s side fell to third in the points table, 14 behind the leaders with the Derby d’Italia defeat coming as a grave blow to their league title hopes. Inter are yet to win the league since 2010.
