Sergio Aguero signs contract extension with Manchester City until 2021
Manchester City’s record goalscorer Sergio Aguero has signed a contract extension with the Premier League champions that will keep him at the club until 2021.
The Argentine striker, who joined City in 2011 from Atletico Madrid is the club’s all-time record goalscorer with 204 goals from 229 appearances.
“I am happy for this additional year. My idea was being here for 10 years. I’ve been here for seven years, it’s going to be 10 when the contract expires,” Aguero, who became the club’s record goalscorer last season, told City TV on Thursday.
“This was the main reason I signed. I’m very happy because they have treated me very well since the first day I got here.”

Meanwhile, Manchester City football director Txiki Begiristain said that despite him being left out by coach Pep Guardiola in the final two years of his contract, Aguero still remained pivotal to the club and will always be a senior player.
We are delighted that Sergio is extending his stay at Manchester City,” said Begiristain. “He has been so important to this club since his arrival in 2011 and he remains at the forefront of what we are want to achieve in the coming years.”
“We are fortunate to have had one of the best strikers in the world at our club for so many years.”
The 30-year-old three-time League title winner has already scored five goals and provided two assists in six games for City this season.
Manchester City next plays in an away match to Cardiff City on Saturday.
