Serena Williams goes topless for breast cancer awareness campaign
Star tennis player Serena Williams posed topless for a video of herself where she is heard singing the song, “I Touch to Myself” – a 1991 hit song of the Australian band The Divinyls to show her support from breast cancer.
She created her own version of the song in a video which she posted on Instagram and she admitted that she had to get out of her, “comfort zone.”
“This Breast Cancer Awareness Month I’ve recorded a version of The Divinyls global hit ‘I Touch Myself’ to remind women to self-check regularly,” her post read.
“Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it’s an issue that affects all women of all colours, all around the world. Early detection is key – it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that.”
A part of the Breast Cancer Network Australia Initiative, Serena further adds, “The music video is part of the I Touch Myself Project which was created in honour of celebrated diva, Chrissy Amphlett, who passed away from breast cancer, and who gave us her hit song to remind women to put their health first.”
Named I Touch Myself’, the project is supported by bra manufacturer Berlei who brought in Serena to increase awareness about the campaign amongst the people.
