Maharashtra: Godman raped woman for 3-year on pretext of freeing her from ‘black magic curse’

A 35-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a self-styled godman for several years on the pretext of freeing her from the black magic curse in Thane, Maharashtra, reported Times Now.

According to the report, the Baba’s wife was also allegedly involved in the heinous crime and recorded videos of the alleged rapes. Both godman and his wife had also extorted around Rs 2 lakh from the victim.

The victim lives in Dahisar, had met godman named Noor Shaikh in Rabodi area of Thane with the help of her relative.

According to a Times Now report, Shaikh told her that she was a victim of a black magic curse and if she wanted to rid her of the evil, she would have to pay money for the rituals. The accused then took Rs 1,48,000 from the victim and another Rs 30,000 from the victim’s mother.

The godman’s wife had told the victim that her mother-in-law had cursed her with ‘black magic’. Later, Noor Shaikh repeatedly raped the victim for three years between 2015-2018.

When the victim opposed the years of sexual assault, the accused’s wife Rubina threatened her saying, “We have your obscene video clips, so do whatever we say or we will make them go viral on social media.”

Eventually, the victim who was devastated with the assault filed a complaint with Rabodi Police Station. Following the complaint, a case was registered against Noor Shaikh and his wife Rubina under charges of molestation, rape and cheating. Rabodi police have arrested both the accused and probes is underway.
