Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Is The Game of the Year In 2020 SXSW Gaming Awards
The on-location event this year was canceled due to the COVID-10 outbreak.
The SXSW Gaming Awards weren’t able to host an on-location event this year due to the COVID-10 outbreak. However, an online rendition of the awards announced the winners of the seventh annual award show. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice won the game of the year at the awards. The was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on 22 March 2019. Since then, it has gone on to gather critical acclaim.
“Gaming is a key part of the creative ecosystem that brings us together, and now more than ever it provides us with a unique sense of escape and adventure in uncertain times,” a statement from SXSW programming chief Hugh Forrest read. “We were devastated that we weren’t able to celebrate our honorees in person with the cancellation of our event, but glad that we’re still able to share their achievements and creative works with our community.”
