Bollywood reacts to Section 377 verdict, lends support to LGBTQ community
Homosexuality a taboo no more as Supreme Court scraps Section 377. The Bench is led by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and comprises Justices Rohinton F. Nariman, A.M. Khanwilkar, D.Y. Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra.
For those who don’t know, Section 377 criminalizes sexual intercourse that is penile and non-vaginal, deeming it “against the order of nature”. Earlier, the court had also said “no one should have to live in fear because of their sexuality.”
Criminalisation of Section 377 has been an issue long talked about in India. The verdict is in the favour of LGBTQ community and our Bollywood celebs too beamed with joy on hearing the news.
Karan Johar who has also been a victim of trolls because a lot of people called him gay, he gave the verdict a thumbs up and tweeted, “Historical judgment!!!! So proud today! Decriminalising homosexuality and abolishing #Section377 is a huge thumbs up for humanity and equal rights! The country gets its oxygen back!.”

This moment came 71 years too late history, 71 yrs after our brethren attained freedom; but the soul of a community, long suppressed, has found utterance. Congratulations!.”
