Sara Ali Khan to star opposite Varun Dhawan in ‘Coolie No. 1’ remake
Sara Ali Khan Is Varun Dhawan’s Leading Lady In Coolie No. 1 Remake
Filmmaker David Dhawan is known for his classic comedies made under the title of No. 1. And now, after the stupendous success of ‘Judwaa 2’, David Dhawan is all set to revisit another one of his yesteryear comedies, the Govinda-starrer ‘Coolie No. 1’. The director will team up with son Varun Dhawan for the third time, after ‘Main Tera Hero’ and ‘Judwaa 2’. However, the latest development is that the film has found its leading lady too.
According to a report published in Mumbai Mirror, Sara Ali Khan will feature in the remake of ‘Coolie No. 1’ as a leading lady. She will be stepping into the shoes of the charismatic Karisma Kapoor and be seen romancing Varun Dhawan in the remake. The film is expected to take off in July. The film’s dialogues have been penned by Farhad Samji, who also wrote dialogues for Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba’, again starring Sara.
Interacting with Mumbai Mirror, Farhad Samji admitted that ‘Coolie No. 1’ is a childhood favourite and he had watched the film at least 10 times with his father. “He is no more but the memories remain. With me coming on-board this special film, life has come a full circle. It’s an emotional moment for me,” Samji added.
Speaking about his association with Dhawan for this classic’s adaptation, Samji said, “It is a boon for any writer to work with a dedicated actor like Varun. I narrated the dialogue draft to him recently and he immediately asked me for a copy, so he could rehearse his lines even though there is still time for the film to go on the floors. I am looking forward to teaming up with Sara for the second time.”
