Haryanvi singer and dancer Sapna Choudhary who has a huge fan following has entered the world of politics. The singer had campiagned for Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari during the Lok Sabha polls. She has now joined the Bhartiya Janta Party on Sunday.
Sapna Chaudhry reached JLN stadium on Sunday morning to become the first member to join the BJP’s membership drive from Delhi.
As reported by India Today, Sapna Choudhary formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at an event of the party’s newly launched membership drive at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. The former Bigg Boss contestant joined the party in the presence of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP vice-president Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP general secretary Ram Lal and Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari. She was the first person to take primary membership of the party during the special membership drive.
In March, Sapna Chaudhary had made headlines after Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar tweeted a picture of the singer along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and welcomed her to the party. However, she categorically denied having joined the party.
Manoj Tiwari spoke in her defense and said, “Without Sapna’s consent, Congress has used her old pictures to spread the news that she has joined Congress and will contest from Mathura. She is the biggest superstar and Congress has stooped to such level, which was not expected under Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.”
The Delhi BJP has targeted to enrol 14 lakh new members in it from Delhi during the 37-day drive, which will conclude on August 11.
