India vs Pakistan World Cup 2019 match is at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on June 16. Ahead of the much-awaited match, both the countries are creating advertisements related to the match. Tennis player Sania Mirza is upset with the ads running in both the countries. She took to her Twitter handle to blast on the ad makers and broadcasters. Sania who is married to Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik tweeted, “Cringeworthy ads on both sides of the border ? seriously guys, you don’t need to ‘hype up’ or market the match anymore specially with rubbish! it has ENOUGH attention already! It’s only cricket for God sake, and if you think it’s anymore than that then get a grip or get a life !!”
Here’s her tweet.
Recently, a Pakistan TV channel shared an advertisement mocking Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s capture in Pakistan by the military forces. The 33-second video showed Abhinandan’s impersonator imitating the IAF pilot.
Also, Star Sports is back with the famous ‘Mauka Mauka’ advertisement, which was the slogan for previous India vs Pakistan world cup matches. This time the ad comes with a tagline, “Baap, Baap Hota Hai” as it coincides with Father’s Day.
When it comes to cricket matches be it World Cup or any other matches between India and Pakistan, both the countries turn xenophobic. Creativity is always applauded but it shouldn’t hurt the sentiments of the people while going to create a hype of the matches.
