Hamstring strain to Ben Stokes during fielding drills ushers England board to get a back up for him. Surrey all rounder Sam Curran gets the call in as an added player in the squad. He has more than 100 first class wickets and a batting average of 27.18 with the bat. Exciting prospect in case Stokes fails to recover.
Sam Curran is the brother of nippy Tom Curran who featured in 2 Tests for England in Australia last year. He was summoned to serve in England T20 squad for tri series in New Zealand and Australia but failed to make it to the final XI. Post the humiliating defeat by 9 wickets in the first encounter, James Anderson feels there’s a prodigious need for players to step up and fight back in the coming Test match.
Its quite certain that the team confidence gets hit by such a defeat. But being professional cricketers you ought to stand up and fight back. Its all about one or two players making the difference and suddenly other players start finding their feet.
Its time for team England and the left arm swing bowler Sam Curran to show what they can do. Stokes hasn’t been ruled out yet. He stays with the team with the hope of recovery.
