Indian badminton player, Saina Nehwal is currently in Thailand to participate in the Open tournament. However, on Tuesday several viral reports stated that she tested positive for Coronavirus, alongside HS Prannoy. Both of them were apparently kept under quarantine. She now reveals that ‘it’s very confusing’, as everyone started saying that she is COVID-19 positive even without getting the health report.
The Badminton Association of India (BAI) revealed in a tweet post that Saina and Prannoy, both have been withdrawn from the open tournament due to their health concerns. Both of them would have to be isolated at an hospital in Bangkok for around 10 days. “Two Indian players have tested positive for COVID-19 — Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy. Both players have been withdrawn from the tournament and have to be isolated in hospital for a minimum 10 days. BAI in constant touch with BWF, Team Management, Players and Organizers,” read BAI’s tweet post.
Reacting to these reports of her testing positive, Saina Nehwal took to her Twitter handle and revealed that she didn’t receive any report so far. After her warm up session, they apparently asked her to quarantine at an hospital alongside two other people. She wrote in her tweet post, “I still didn’t receive the covid test report from yesterday it’s very confusing and today just before the warm up for the match they tell me to got to hospital in bangkok … saying that I m positive ..according to rules the report should come in 5 hours.. @bwfmedia.”
If Saina Nehwal actually tests positive for Coronavirus, then according to the guidelines and safety norms they won’t be allowed to participate in the tournament.
