Since the time Prithvi Shaw was discovered in the cricketing arena, everyone knew that he was different from the children of his age group.
The 14-year-old uber talented Shaw smashed 546 runs, which is so far the highest score by an Indian batsman in minor cricket, during a Harris Shield match at the famous Azad Maidan in Mumbai.
With every passing innings, he displayed a fearless and learning attitude. These are the two characteristics required to climb to the highest level of the game.
Earlier this year, Shaw made his India debut during India’s home series against West Indies. There was a lot of hype which was built around his debut, and he lived up to it successfully. He made a classic century on debut as he scored a brilliant 134 off 154 balls. Shaw’s hundred came off 99 balls as he became the fourth youngest to notch up a hundred on Test debut.
As India whitewashed the Windies in the two-match Test series, Prithvi Shaw bagged the Player of the Series award for his 237 runs in two Tests at an average of 118.50. Hs brilliant performance also gave him a ticket to the Indian team’s flight for Australia.
Later this month, India team A India is set to tour Down Under for a full-fledged tour including Test, ODI, and T20I series.
As Shaw walked to bat for the very first time in Test cricket, he needed only a few overs to attract comparisons with the legend and his idol, Sachin Tendulkar.
Prashant Shetty, Shaw’s MIG Academy’s coach disclosed to DNA that Shaw has been training at the MIG Academy since Monday and was lucky to have Tendulkar with him on one of those training days.
Mr Shetty further added, “He trained with wet rubber balls in the artificial tarpaulin laid on the cement pitch in the centre of the MIG ground. Tendulkar and Jagdish Chavan and bowled to him. As he was batting, he had the master watching him and giving him the required tips in order to prepare him for the Australia tour.”

Shaw had suffered an injury during the recently ended Deodhar Trophy, because of which he missed Mumbai’s opening Ranji Trophy match against Railways.
The little power house of talent, Prithvi Shaw is all set to tour New Zealand as a part of India A under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane before they join the other Indian team members in Australia.
