Sachin Tendulkar Birthday Special: Interesting Facts About Cricket Legend

Indian cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar is celebrating his 48th birthday today. Popularly also known as the Master Blaster, he has greatly contributed to the field of sports. With his impressive performances on a cricket field, he has changed the face of the game and how the young audience looked up to it. On the occasion of his special day today, we take a look at a few interesting facts about him.

Interesting facts about Sachin Tendulkar:

Sachin Tendulkar(Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar) was born on April 24, 1973 in Mumbai to a well-known Marathi novelist, Ramesh and Rajni. In 2012 he became the first cricketer to score 100 centuries (100 runs in a single inning) in an international match.

Sachin Tendulkar is the youngest debutant for India in Tests and ODIs.

The cricketer scored a century in each of his domestic debut for Mumbai.

Sachin received the Champagne bottle as his first Man of the Match reward. Because he was still an under-aged player, he couldn’t drink it then. He apparently kept that Champagne bottle safe and opened it on his daughter, Sara’s first birthday.

He was equaled to Sir Don Bradman’s for his record of 29 Test centuries. Then he was gifted a Ferrari by F1 driver Michael Schumacher.

Once Sachin lent his bat to a Pakistan player Shahid Afridi, who then went on to score the fastest ODI century in that match.

In 2012 Tendulkar became a member of the Rajya Sabha the upper chamber of the Indian parliament—the first active athlete to join that body.

In 2014 he became the first sportsman to receive India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna

Tendulkar was inducted into the International Cricket Council Hall of Fame in 2019.
