Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar attended his coach Ramakant Achrekar’s final ritual on Thursday. Achrekar passed away on Wednesday at his Shivaji Park residence in Dadar, Mumbai. He was Sachin Tendulkar’s childhood coach. The body of legend coach was kept at Park, where he trained aspiring cricketers and then taken to a nearby crematorium.
The moment Ramakant Achrekar’s body was taken outside the Park, there were several boys, who reportedly practice there, gave a guard of honour and chants ‘Amar Rahe’. Sachin Tendulkar, Chandrakant Pandit and family and friends of Ramakant Achrekar can be seen carrying the mortal remains of Ramakant Achrekar.
Tendulkar, along with Achrekar’s other wards like Vinod Kambli, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, and Chandrakant Pandit participated in the procession to the crematorium, where his body was consigned to flames. Prior to that, his body was kept at his residence for his well-wishers to pay their last respect to the Dronacharya and Padma Shri award-winning coach.
Mumbai cricketers such as Atul Ranade, Amol Muzumdar Ramesh Powar, Paras Mhambrey, Ranji coach Vinayak Samant, Nilesh Kulkarni, Vinod Raghavan, were also spotted along with their fans. Besides them, ex-Rajasthan coach Pradeep Sundaram, office-bearers of the Mumbai Cricket Association, veteran cricket administrator Prof Ratnakar Shetty have also paid their tribute to him.
Apart from these sports personalities, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray, BJP MLA and Ashish Shelar and Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar also paid their last respect to the coach. He was battling old age-related ailments for the past few months.
