Bollywood’s versatile actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last on April 30 at a hospital in Mumbai, aged 67 after an extended battle with leukemia. Back in 2018, the veteran actor expressed his desire to see his son Ranbir Kapoor get married ‘before he is gone.’
Speaking to Mid-Day, the veteran actor talked about his wish and said, “It is high time he (Ranbir) got married. I settled down when I was 27, Ranbir is 35. So he should think about marriage. He can marry anyone of his choice; we don’t have any objection to it. I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone.”
“He(Ranbir) can marry anyone of his choice; we don’t have any objection to it. I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone. Whenever he is ready for it, we will be happy. Our happiness lies in his happiness, after all,” added Rishi Kapoor.
Ranbir Kapoor was always by his father’s side for most of 2019, while Rishi was undergoing treatment for cancer in New York. The actor’s son would frequently visit his parents in New York, along with his beau, actor Alia Bhatt.
The mortal remains of Rishi Kapoor were taken to Mumbai’s Chandanwadi Crematorium on Thursday afternoon. Ranbir Kapoor performed his father’s last rites. Neetu Kapoor was seen in an emotional state, also present were Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Armaan Jain, Rima Jain, and Aadar Jain, among others.
