After the sad demise of versatile actor Irrfan Khan, the film industry suffered another loss in the form of actor Rishi Kapoor. He was admitted to the HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai. However, Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30 at the age of 67. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan was the first one to reveal the news. Tributes have since poured in from all walks of life. Politicians throughout the country are also mourning the loss of Rishi Kapoor.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the demise of Rishi Kapoor. He wrote, “Multifaceted, endearing and lively…this was Rishi Kapoor Ji. He was a powerhouse of talent. I will always recall our interactions, even on social media. He was passionate about films and India’s progress. Anguished by his demise. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti.”
Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal offered his condolences to the bereaved family. He wrote, “Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of actor Rishi Kapoor. He entertained several generations of Indians throughout his career. What a terrible loss… My condolences to the grieving family. May God bless his soul.”
Rahul Gandhi concluded that this was a terrible time for Indian cinema. He wrote, “This is a terrible week for Indian cinema, with the passing of another legend, actor Rishi Kapoor. A wonderful actor, with a huge fan following across generations, he will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, friends & fans all over the world, at this time of grief,” he wrote in his tweet.
Moreover, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was quick to offer condolences to the family and heap praise upon the actor. He wrote, “Saddened to know veteran actor #RishiKapoor has passed away. It is a devastating news for his family, friends & fans. My heartfelt condolences to his close ones. May they find strength in this most difficult time. He would always be remembered for his iconic roles”
Meanwhile, Cabinet minister Chetan Chauhan wrote, “Actor Rishi Kapoor Ji passes away. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans. May God give them strength. May his soul rest in peace. #RishiKapoor.”
Also, MP Surendranagar Dr. Mahendra Munjapara joined in the list of politicians that shared their sadness about the passing of Rishi Kapoor on social media. He wrote, “Actor Rishi Kapoor Ji passes away. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans. May God give them strength. May his soul rest in peace #RishiKapoor.”
Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. Last year, he returned from New York after his treatment.
