Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor — who was admitted to Mumbai’s H N Reliance hospital on Wednesday morning — has passed away today (April 30, 2020). The report of Rishi Kapoor’s death comes a few hours after his brother Randhir Kapoor confirmed to Indianexpress.com saying that he is not well.
It is to be noted that Rishi Kapoor returned to India in September last year after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year.
The news of Rishi Kapoor’s demise comes almost a day after Bollywood fraternity lost legendry actor, Irrfan Khan. The Pink actor is survived by his wife Neetu, son Ranbir Kapoor and daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni.
The news of Rishi Kapoor’s death was shared by none other than Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
Sr Bachchan took to Twitter and wrote, “He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed.”
Rishi Kapoor was first admitted to a Delhi’s hospital where he was attending a family function. At the time, Rishi Kapoor had said that he was suffering from an “infection”. Post his return to Mumbai, the 67-year actor was again admitted to a hospital with viral fever.
Rishi Kapoor, who was an avid social media users, hasn’t posted anything on his Twitter account since April 2 this year.
Rishi Kapoor had recently announced his next project, a remake of Hollywood film The Intern, also starring Deepika Padukone.
When he was undergoing treatment in the US, various Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Aamir Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Priyanka Chopra, and Anupam Kher among others visited him.
