Real Madrid have announced the full-time appointment of their interim manager Santiago Solari after the Argentine brought in a change in fortunes at the Bernabeu.
He was named as Julen Lopetegui’s replacement after the Spaniard failed to live upto the expectations at the club. Real Madrid had a torrid start to their season wherein they were handed defeats by Levante, Alaves and a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Barcelona.
“Everything is in order. Real Madrid have worked out his contract and there are no problems,” said that Spanish federation.
Since Solari took charge of the side on in interim basis, Real Madrid have gone on to win four consecutive matches where they have scored 15 goals and have conceded just two.
The Spanish giants since then, have gone on to win against Mellila in the Copa del Rey, beat Viktoria Plzen 5-0 in the Champions League and have recorded wins over Real Valladolid abs Celta Vigo in the La Liga.
The recent revival in fortunes have left the former Spanish champions just four short of league leaders Barcelona, who faced a 3-4 loss at the hands of Real Betis at home.
Club director Emilio Butrageno said that they were impressed with Solari’s work and said, “
“Everything is in order. Real Madrid have worked out his contract and there are no problems.”
Solari himself was a player at the club for five years and had been the coach of the B team Castilla before he was handed the charge of the first team after Lopetegui’s dismissal.
“It’s a great opportunity and it’s a great club,” said Solari. “
“I don’t just say that now as coach of the first team. I’ve been here with other teams, I’ve played and sweated in the shirt of this club.
“Madrid is bigger than all of us but it touches us all with its greatness. I want to be a part of it,” he added.
