Just days before Australia begin the four-match Test series against India at home, they have added a six-year-old member to their squad. Yes, you’ve read it right! Young Archie Schiller has been added to the Oz squad for the Adelaide Test match.
Archie, essentially a leg-break bowler who has the legendary Shane Warne as his idol would also be a part of the squad for the Boxing Day Test match which would begin on December 26. He had got a call from head coach Justin Langer while Australia were competing against Pakistan in the UAE. He learnt of his call-up to the squad via video call from Langer.

He received his Test jersey when he arrived at the Adelaide Oval and also trained with the squad. He even expressed his desire in dismissing Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
Archie is a six-year-old kid who suffers from a heart condition. At just three months of age, it was discovered that the child has faulty heart valves which led to life-threatening problems if it is not kept in check. In just six years of his life, the young boy has gone under the knife 13 times.
Pictures of Archie training with the team was posted by Cricket Australia on Twitter.
Archie’s story reached Make-A-Wish Australia who in turn set it all up–having the kid get a call from Langer and an opportunity to connect with the Australian team. It is indeed a heart-warming gesture from Cricket Australia.
