Being ‘calm’ in the 90s helped me achieve the milestone: Ravindra Jadeja
After almost a decade in international cricket, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja finally has a hundred to his name and he said that staying calm in the nineties helped him achieve the landmark.
He had earlier scored an 86 and 90 in Test cricket. Batting with number Mohammed Shami, however, didn’t give him any additional pressure.
“It is very special because in the past I had gotten to 80s and 90s but was not able to convert. Today, I was not worried, just did not want to play any loose shot. I kept talking to Umesh and Shami and told myself that I needed to play till I score 100,” he said, as quoted by Deccan Chronicle. He reached his hundred before tea when India declared at 649/9.

But that wasn’t it. When the West Indies were batting, it was Jadeja who was again in the mix of things as he pulled off a comical run-out of Shimron Hetmyer. Both Hetmyer and Sunil Ambris were caught at one end Jadeja comically walked to the end and threw the ball at the stumps from a few yards.
Reflecting upon their dismissal, he said, “You saw what happened.”
“I saw both batsmen were at the same end and I did not think that Hetmyer would start running in towards the other end in such hot conditions. I was relaxed and so thought I will walk to take the bails off. His effort (run) was good,” he added.
